: Upgrades & Migrations
The enhancement you have been looking for may be available now.
Visual Enterprise® version 6.3.8 is available now for
new customers as well as upgrades for current customers. The list
below shows some of the new or improved features.
Engineering Change Notice (ECN) Enhancements
New ECN Entry allows users to create electronic ECN documents complete
with approval teams, electronic signatures (password protection),
and notification systems. An ECN can be applied to documents, parts,
engineering masters, work orders, and projects, any of which can
have multiple ECNs applied to them. Through ECN Entry, users can
apply locks to ECN line items, preventing transactions against those
line items elsewhere in VISUAL. New ECN History window displays
ECNs, filtered by status, for any document, part, engineering master,
work order, and project.
Purchase Requisitions – NEW
New Purchase Requisition Entry allows users to create electronic
requisition documents, complete with approval teams, electronic
signatures (password protection) and notification systems. Requisitions
feature multiple statuses; support for lines and delivery schedules;
support for Part ID and non-Part ID parts. Users can convert a Purchase
Requisition directly into a Vendor RFQ or Purchase Order. Enhancements
to Vendor RFQ allow the user to convert it directly into a Purchase
Order.
Task Maintenance – NEW
This new feature allows a user to view all of his/her ECN and Requisition
tasks assigned to them. As tasks are completed approval statuses
on the respective ECN or Requisition document are updated automatically
by the VISUAL system.
Document Handling – NEW
This new feature allows users to define in Document Maintenance
an ID, Description, Document File Path, Document Category, and Document
Reference Type. Users can link any document in Document Maintenance
to other records in VISUAL such as Customer Orders, Customer Order
Lines, Purchase Orders, Purchase Order Lines, Engineering Change
Notices, Requisitions, RFQs, Trace, Parts, and Work Orders.
Cost Simulations – NEW
New Cost Simulations window allows users to create numerous “what
if” costing scenarios against part standards. Cost simulations
can be performed on individual parts as well as Engineering Masters.
For Engineering Masters, cost simulations can include fabricated
parts, purchased parts or both as well as resources. Users can select
a cost simulation and roll the costs to update parts and resources.
Automatic general journal entries can be created to reflect the
changes in costs.
Traceability Enhancements
Part Trace Profile Maintenance has added features to the Alpha and
Numeric Properties. Alpha and Numeric Properties can optionally
now be Editable and Visible. New Trace History window tracks changes
to trace properties, trace quantities, and Trace ID. Additional
enhancements include the added features of applying trace on Service
Dispatch and Service Receipt, added Configure Line Item Table and
Trace ID browse, and column sorting in Part Trace Maintenance. Enhancements
also include, at an option, further tightening of allowable Trace
IDs that can be reported for material and labor transactions.
Employee Maintenance Enhancements
VISUAL allows users to specify the email addresses and Login User
IDs for employees.
Price Book Enhancements
Price Book is now functional with Customer Order Entry as well as
the Estimating Window. Originally, Price Book functioned only with
Order Management.
Receiving from WO Enhancements
Recent enhancements include the ability to backflush labor (both
time and costs); the ability to backflush all the way back through
the WO, including subordinate legs, until it reaches the first non-auto
reporting operation; the ability to Receive by Part, rather than
WO, auto filling WOs from the earliest Want Date by default with
user override; creation of blanket work orders which can remain
open.
Project Management – NEW
New major feature provides complete project planning and management.
Features are numerous and include, but are not limited to, work
breakdown structures (WBS), calculated earned values, rate maintenance
and cost/burden categories, Project Window, Project Summary Window,
project and mixed-mode (project and non-project) costing.
Resizable Screens – NEW
It would appear that all applications now support resizing so the
internal grid sections of windows will expand to cover the entire
window as it’s resized. This has been tested with Customer
Order Entry and would logically be used on all similar screens with
line item information. The application also remembers the screen
size and position the next time it is opened.
